The original Story Shifters class put together an amazing production they called "Red & Rio". This play was shifted from the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. The story followed Red, a young boy, who was off to visit his grandfather. In the process, he comes across a wolf who is simply in search for his favorite tasty treat.
The program used a variety of theater games and writing exercises to help build the dialogue of the show. The students wrote the play, designed the set, helped with direction, & acted as the stage crew throughout the entire process. Story Shifters has evolved to be offered at low cost for all students through the Waltham Park & Recreation program in Waltham, MA. The classroom is inclusive and focuses on social & emotional learning and empathy. |

Shifting Shakespeare brings together the Story Shifters programs with one of the world's greatest storytellers. Through Shifting Shakespeare, students are able to explore the work of William Shakespeare at it's roots and develop a sense for the language and messaging. Throughout the course, the teaching artists and students will work together to not only learn the selected work, but to also make it their own.

This residency works off of the original Story Shifters curriculum of adaptation. Students create original musicals based on a collection of music selected by the group. Students thread the themes of each song from different genres into a culminating presentation.
In 2014, students from New York City's District 75 created NYC Stories and performed in front of friends, family, & school personnel. |

This program is for our youngest play-makers. Each visit is its own play making experience. Children create a unique story through the use of guided dramatic play. Costumes, bubbles, props, and music are part of the day of fun! Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join in the process along with their children.
