About UsStory Shifters began as a passion project of Kimberly Strafford in New York City. It served nearly 100 students in District 75 of the NYC Public School System. Over four years, Story Shifters helped students find their voice, write their own words, & share their own tales. Kimberly is excited to bring the program home to Massachusetts, where she first started working as a teaching artist.
Kimberly is a teaching artist, actress, and creator of Story Shifters. Story Shifters began in 2011 within NYC’s special education district. To date, Story Shifters has provided over ten residencies and served over one hundred students. Kimberly has created and facilitated countless theatre programs throughout the east coast for public schools, nursing homes, mental health facilities and prisons. Past positions include: Education/Outreach Officer for The Abbey Theatre-Dublin IRE, Artist-in-residence for the MA Department of Mental Health, Curriculum Director for The Rebel Shakespeare Company and, Director of Education and Outreach for Kef Theatrical Productions. Kimberly earned her MA in Theatre Education from Emerson College and a BFA in Acting from Syracuse University. |
